Seven checks in order
- Check Facebook’s Marketplace notification settings. Open Facebook settings, find Notifications, then Marketplace. Confirm the notification types you want are enabled.
- Check your phone’s Facebook permission. On Android or iPhone, open the Facebook app’s notification settings and make sure notifications are allowed.
- Check Do Not Disturb and Focus modes. A correctly generated alert can still be silenced by the phone.
- Remove aggressive battery restrictions. Some Android devices delay background notifications when an app is sleeping or heavily restricted.
- Confirm the Marketplace search was saved. Reopen the search and check that its notification option remains active.
- Test a narrow search. Use a specific model or uncommon phrase. A broad search makes it difficult to know which listings should have triggered a notice.
- Separate missing from late. If a notification arrives but the listing is already old, pending or unavailable, your settings may be working—the remaining issue is timing.
Why notifications can feel unreliable
Marketplace decides which product experiences and notifications to show. The buyer does not control when a listing becomes visible, when Facebook chooses to notify, or whether the phone displays that notification immediately.
That creates two different problems:
- Missing alert: no notification appears at all.
- Late alert: the notification arrives, but the opportunity window has already narrowed.
Quick diagnostic
Open the notification and look at the listing age. If the notification is recent but the listing is much older, the problem is not necessarily a disabled setting. The delivery mechanism worked; it simply did not preserve the freshness you expected.
Does a faster scanner solve everything?
No. Faster checking can reduce the delay after a listing becomes visible. It cannot detect a listing that Marketplace has not yet made public, and its scan interval does not prove the creation age of the result.
For competitive sourcing, the useful measurement is not only “how often did the search run?” It is also “how old was the listing when the alert arrived?” Read our guide to how Marketplace listing age works.
When a separate alert service makes sense
A separate service may be useful when you repeatedly source stock, want one consistent delivery channel or need a clear age threshold rather than a general notification.
Deal Shark is designed for Sydney resellers who want a shared New Listing discovery feed. It verifies creation time, excludes listings aged 15 minutes or more and sends the item, price, timestamps and original link to Telegram.
Keep the limitation clear
A fresh alert does not guarantee that the seller replies or that the item remains available. It gives you better timing information and a shorter path from signal to seller.
One final phone check
After changing notification or battery settings, restart the Facebook app and test again. Avoid changing several unrelated settings at once—you want to know which adjustment actually fixed the problem.
Still receiving opportunities too late?
Use a timestamp you can actually see.
Deal Shark sends under-15-minute Sydney Marketplace alerts directly to Telegram.
